A husband and wife will be running the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon on Sunday to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Tony and Lynda Cooke, who are both 50 and work for caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury, decided to take up the challenge as they both enjoy fitness work in the gym and are members of the company’s running club.

Lynda completed the half marathon last year, but it will be Tony’s first time. “I originally started going to the gym to lose weight and within 10 months I was running the half marathon,” she explained.

“Tony also goes to the gym because he’s asthmatic and wanted to do the challenge of the half marathon. He’s talking about doing the Three Peaks Challenge next year.

“We are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support because members of our family and work colleagues have all been touched by cancer and this charity does fantastic work.”
