On Saturday 28th March the Shropshire Produce Market returns to the Square Shrewsbury between 9am and 3:30pm. The market was established a couple of years ago by Stuart Jones and Daniel Kawczynski MP to promote local food and drink in the heart of the town centre.

Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham said:

I am very proud of what this market means to Shrewsbury and further afield, so many of these great local firms are employing many staff and creating much needed employment in the area. They also generate huge amounts of revenue for those firms supplying them. Local seasonal food is such an enjoyable experience for the loyal shoppers who support the market. Empire Cake Company are certainly a favourite of mine. This market, like the monthly markets in the Square, bring in many hundreds of people into the Town centre, showcasing what Shrewsbury has to offer.

Stuart Jones, said:

‘Some of the firms, like the Little Round Cake Company, have become a nationally recognised brand and are on the national Ocado delivery sytem. They also supply Selfridges. Heathers Harvest likewise are expanding continually and now supply a major cheese producer, Joseph Heler. Shropshire is getting a serious reputation nationally for quality food and drink and many of these producers will be there on the 28th.
