A fine dining restaurant in Shrewsbury with an informal, intimate atmosphere that is perfect for all occasions.

The Golden Cross Hotel can be found on Princess Street, a quiet yet central part of town. Dating back to 1495, this public house and English restaurant in Shrewsbury has a history and character that is hard to beat.

Owned and run by Gareth and Theresa Reece, their Shropshire restaurant offers an eclectic fine dining experience with no pretensions or stuffiness.

Theresa has 25 years in the restaurant trade and wanted to provide Shrewsbury with a small and informal fine dining experience, where there may be a young couple on one table, a family on the next, grandmothers and children together!

lovely, lovely, LOVELY place! we've never been there in the evening but for a special lunchtime treat in Shrewsbury Town Centre we tend to choose the Golden Cross. always friendly, certainly unique, with a mouthwatering seasonal menu. Now they have B&B rooms available too, we shall certainly be recommending the Golden Cross as accommodation should anyone we know be looking.

I have to congratulate the Golden Cross on their wonderful accommodation and food. The team made our stay in Shrewsbury a pure joy, and that's not even taking into account their perfectly central yet quiet location. A must for visitors to Shrewsbury!

brilliant place, to be seen to be believed. I love unique as opposed to high street so the Golden Cross is perfect. Lunchtime food is superb, lovely choices on menu.

The Golden Cross is one of my favourite restaurants in town, the food is consistently excellent and itʼs a very relaxed dining atmosphere. Their Sunday offer of three courses for £15.50 is superb value for money for the beautiful food you get, I would happlily recommend this restaurant to anyone.

In the heart of the town but away from the noise of the clubs, really easy to find. Interesting decor throughout the restaurant. An excellent selection of great food on the menu; the venison (on the specials board) was cooked near to perfection and the lemon tarte was great. Disappointments would having to brush past people eating to get to/from the rear of the restaurant, and the paper napkins.

The Golden Cross is a lovely place to eat. I eat there with a group of friends every month and there is no pressure on any of us to eat the full menu, we can eat as much or as little as we want. The dining room is delightful with really pretty touches to the tables and lighting and decor. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

A warm, plushly decorated restaurant where Theresa always makes us feel at home. Their crispy belly of pork is my favourite but the sumptuous restaurant room is just as brilliant as the food. Truly unique.
