Return visit for a celebration dinner and once again the food was to die for; cooked beautifully, well presented and tasted great.
We went to Drapers recently to mark a special occasion. And Drapers is the perfect 'special occasion' restaurant. A lovely building, warm and attentive (but not over attentive) staff and of course top notch food and drinks. There are restaurants we visit for a 'standard' evening out but the next time I have something to celebrate I'll be back to Drapers! Very impressive indeed.
We eat at Drapers Hall a couple of times a month and, over the years we have been eating there, we've never had a duff meal. Had lunch there today (06.06.2011) and it was outstanding - the best meal we have had in Shrewsbury. Service was very efficient and friendly.
I just wanted to pass on my heartfelt thanks to the team at Drapers Hall for making my Birthday celebration on Saturday 8th May such a success. I had complete confidence that all would work well, but I think the evening exceeded expectations. Everyone throroughly enjoyed the venue, particularly my guests that stayed at the Hall and they spoke very highly of the service and quality of the food.It truly was a wonderful evening to remember and I will certainly give my strong recommendation to anyone thinking of doing similar. Kate and I often have Saturday lunch at Drapers and will look forward to our next visit and indeed will be booking an evening dinner soon.
I have been to Drapers Hall 3 times now and it has always been great. And I've just found out they are open all day. I'm from the same trade so I love the fact that I can now get good food on my split shifts... can't wait!!! Nothing beats this restaurant for atmosphere, food, winelist and service. Also, my parents were visiting not long ago and found their accommodation worth the 5 star rating they have.
What better restaurant than Drapers Hall to spend a birthday and evening with friends - the meal and atmosphere were just fantastic, and the choice of food very difficult as it is all so yummy!Thank you once again for such a lovely evening.
Another wonderful meal at Drapers Hall - a recommended choice for celebratory occasions. The service is always friendly but not overly formal and of course the food is superb! I have eaten at some "top" dining establishments in London but often found the stuffiness off-putting, whereas Drapers combines fine flavours with a relaxed setting. I also like the fact that they support other Shrewsbury businesses.
This is the best restaurant in town! And it has it all. From the beautiful historic setting with the long drapers tables, which create a wonderful ambience, to the excellent food, which is to die for, and the attention to detail and service that Nigel and his team provide - it is simply second to none. As well as dining here I have also enjoyed holding two seminars in the main hall, which were very well received by attendees. The new rooms due to open above the restaurant will give Shrewsbury town centre the quality accommodation and function rooms that it deserves - these are also ideal for business meetings and business visitor accommodation. Thank you.
My wife and I enjoyed another fine evening at Drapers. From start to finish the evening was perfect; food, service, ambience etc. We love Masterchef and see all these beautiful London restaurants but more often they should whisk the contestants away to other fine dining establishments... like Drapers Hall! Shropshire has a wonderful choice, from Shrewsbury to Ludlow. We are lucky, and certainly remain fans of Drapers.
We had our 40th Wedding Anniversary Dinner Party at the Drapers Hall recently. The food was delicious and the service was excellent - very attentive, very efficient yet totally unobtrusive. We can thoroughly recommend the Drapers Hall as being the best restaurant in Shrewsbury and the surrounding district.
After hearing great things and reading the testimonials on here we recommended Drapers to friends, and ate there this evening.Great service, superb food and the chocolate fondant.. wow!
We spent a night in Shrewsbury to see the Christmas lights switch on and to do some Christmas shopping. We went to Drapers Hall restaurant for dinner. and I would day it is one of the nicest restauants we have ever been. The greeting and courtsey, the warm atmosphere, the spotless cutlery and glasses and most of all the meals we had were second to none. We would definitely go back there if we are ever in Shrewsbury. Excellent value for money
Absolutely fantastic, truly fabulous place! Friendly staff, inobtrusive but attentive service, beautiful surroundings sympathetically decorated allowing the stunning building to be the star! As for the food - wow! The chocolate fondant was to die for... We went on Sunday and even without a booking we were welcomed! The Sunday Lunch was very good value, generous portions of superbly cooked food. And personal service, a huge thank you to the chef and staff who took the trouble to get the mint ice cream recipe for me - Iʼm sure it will be "divine" xx We will certainly return, hopefully soon!
We have visited Drapers Hall Restaurant twice within the last couple of months. My husband and I found the food wonderfully prepared and presented. Upon our second visit, I was pleasantly surprised that we were recognised from our previous visit - and he even remembered that we brought other people with us the first time. The service was excellent as well as the food! We will definitely be back!!! This has become my favourite restaurant since moving to Shrewsbury!
First point is that Iʼm glad that Drapers Hall subsribes to "thebestof.co.uk": to me this is very worthy in promoting the great places in Shrewsbury. As to Drapers Hall ...... we went on Friday 26/9/08 and absolutely loved it. It really is a gorgeous setting for good food. The pace was perfect; nothing was hurried, nor was any course separated by an overly long gap. Staff were really well pitched in terms of helpfulness, attitude, courtesy ...Moreover, the servings were very generous ... Iʼve got to say that we had great value for money here. This is a restaurant that Iʼd highly recommend.Lastly, this is for the proprietors: the gentleman and young lady who studies geography were fantastic in serving us and making our evening all the more enjoyable ... please pass on our thanks and appreciation. It is staff like them that I imagine organisations should value.
mywife and i had two 50th birthday partys at drapers hall and our wedding reception , the food and staff were fantastic. nigel is a most charming man .we eat at drapers often and are made welcome all the time stefan and the rest of the staff are vary charming. martin / sue peleszok.
My wife took me to Drapers Hall for my birthday, celebrating in style this time! The evening was perfect, from the warm welcome and drinks at the bar to friendly, knowledgeable service and food to die for. Can highly recommend the mussels and fillet of beef. Throw in a couple of bottles of superb wine and it made for a thoroughly enjoyable night. Will definitely be looking at Drapers for our next special occasion.
Hi all. This is my first review! And I felt I had to do it after reading Bruce Hʼs comments! I know he recommended Drapers Hall but canʼt believe he then nit-picked about grammatical errors on the table cards!! And why would you go to Drapers Hall and ask for a Budweiserʽ!! There are enough bars and clubs in Shropshire to cater for those wanting American lager. Anyway, agreeing with Bruce I thought the food was superb and I also found the service warm and helpful. Along with the former Hibiscus, Drapers is probably the best fine dining restaurant in Shropshire. No, itʼs not cheap, but then if you want cheap go to Maccie Ds.
Little things mean a lot. This isnʼt a bad restaurant but it falls short on details. Table tops which are not secured to the base are a nuisance. Do read the cards which are on every table. How long has Shrewsbury been pluralʽ(Shrewsburyʼs NOT Shrewsburys for possessive case). And do the words form sentencesʽ Oops again. Itʼs nice if staff listen to what you are saying. A glass of ʼBuddʼ is not a glass of German wheat beer. Some of the areas, (not the dining room), could use a good clean. Having said all that, the food was good in terms of portion size, quality and presentation. Iʼd eat there again but they probably wouldnʼt want me through the door after these comments! I bet this review is deleted anyway. Thatʼs England for you nowadays- good spin or out!
Without doubt the best restaurant in the area. The food is fantastic and the service is faultless. Expect to may slightly more than usual for the dining experience, but its well worth it.
A truly wonderful venue in town centre . Good food, interesting menu. Helpful and cheerful staff, if a little slow with service.
Yes, Iʼve tried the brasserie menu a few times and itʼs fantastic value for money as well as offering some of the most delightful & tasty dishes in Shropshire. Found the service very friendly and knowledgeable and there was no stuffiness or pretentiousness that you can sometimes encounter at fine dining restaurants. Some wonderful times at Drapers.
Drapers is the place to go if you are celebrating an anniversary, especially on winters evenings when they have a real fire roaring in the main dining hall. The food is lovely although quite expensive (but for special occasions a real treat). The staff are friendly and efficient.
