Traders in Castle Market want shoppers to join in their golden year celebrations and will be giving away fifty pounds worth of shopping vouchers every week from mid July until mid September. Lucky winners will be able to spend their vouchers on a huge choice of produce in the market, and will have up until the end of September to use them.
The Castle market building has evolved from the initial meat and fish market, and over the years has expanded to include additional floors and shopping areas. Castle market was completed in July 1959, making July 2009 Castle Market’s golden year. A series of events will be happening throughout the summer to celebrate this milestone. There will be children’s entertainment and an exhibition showing the history of Sheffield markets over the years, as well as the shoppers fifty pounds for free promotion.
Five hundred pounds will be given away in total - fifty pounds a week for ten weeks. Randomly selected shoppers will be stopped while they shop by markets managers each week and given the vouchers on Wednesday afternoons.
To be in with a chance of winning, shoppers need to visit Castle Market on Wednesday afternoons throughout the summer. The first winner will be given their vouchers on Wednesday 15th July when the markets manager will go onto the shop floor and randomly select one lucky shopper. Then every week for the following nine weeks more lucky customers will be made into voucher winners!
