Light up winter with a bit of culture

The Salisbury Playhouse has its usual eclectic selection of performances and shows through the early months of 2010, a perfect way to banish those winter blues. For full listings check out their website.

Below are two shows that piqued my interest, both for content and names performing (Yay Rufus Sewel).

Private Lives
by Noël Coward

A Salisbury Playhouse Production
21 January - 20 February 2010
An intimate comedy
"I think very few people
are completely normal really
deep down in their private lives"
Elegant divorcees Elyot and Amanda are on honeymoon with their new spouses... in adjacent hotel suites. A chance encounter on their balconies, on the first night of their new lives reminds them that they can't live together - and that they can't live apart.
Noël Coward's passionate and witty love story, glittering with razor-sharp dialogue, remains one of the most successful and popular comedies ever written.

Nocturne
14 February 2010

In aid of the House Development Fund
6pm (one performance only)
Lucy Parham (piano)
Rufus Sewell (actor*)
Harriet Walter (actor*)
Nocturne: The Romantic Life of Frederic Chopin
Pianist Lucy Parham returns to the Playhouse for a delightful evening of words and music about the romantic life of Frédéric Chopin. She has previously performed in Odyssey of Love and Beloved Clara. Rufus Sewell has appeared in the films The Holiday and A Knight’s Tale, as well as the BBC adaptation of Middlemarch. Harriet Walter’s credits include the films Atonement and Sense and Sensibility and Mary Stuart in the West End and on Broadway.
