A staggering 309 million people are registered to buy and sell on E-bay which is roughly the entire populations of UK, Canada, Spain, France, Australia, Poland, Chile and South Africa combined. Get your head around that one!!
It was interesting to find out that Ebay was only launched in September 1995 by Pierre Omidyar (who?) from his home because he wanted to create a forum for his wife who as a collector of Pez Dispensers. Women are just the reason for just about everything I say! What is a Pez dispenser? You don't see them as much now - but Pez is an abbreviation of the German word for peppermint and Pez candy was dispensed in these instantly recognisable dispensers with various heads - over 250 of them and have become collectable.
Ebay now have site in 39 countries and Ebay accounts for more that 10% of UK internet use - almost 50%of UK users visit E-Bay at least once a month.
Chris gave us tips on what and how to navigate easily around the site and made a fairly daunting task to most of us of getting started on Ebay both enjoyable and entertaining .
