WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE?
The huge brick planters in the centre of Sale were meant to hold greenery and flowers, to boost the spirits of shoppers and businesses along School Rd and to provide a source of enjoyment.
Last Saturday was the Sale Festival and hundreds of people came to see the musical performance "Summertime Sounds" in the Square .... what a pity that they also had to see big, bare, brick planters, filled with weeds and cigarette ends -- not flowers.
So, where are they... what has happened to the flowers?
For at least 3 weeks the planters have been filled with bare earth and a sprinkling of cigarette ends. At the Northenden Rd end of School Rd in particular the cigarette ends are plentiful and now the weeds are flourishing in the planters opposite Lloyds Bank.
Shoppers, residents and the businesses on School Rd are wondering ... is this situation permanent? Are the planters in Sale another victim of "Cuts" by the Trafford Council and what if anything can be done about this depressing affair?
Good News .... TheBestof Sale is happy to report that after speaking to Service Support Officer Mrs. Brenda Neary, the delay in refilling the planters in Sale will not be for much longer. It is due partly to reduced funds and partly to all the towns in the borough being replanted in turn. We have been assured that this week the planters in School Rd, Sale will be replanted.
We are looking forward to it, it's just not Summer without the flowers.
