Valentines Day in September ... Why Not?

and why men are not as romantic as women!

Its mid Summer and  romance is in the air --Chelsea and Marc were front page news with the  most romantic wedding of the year in August, and the UK is waiting for the big announcement from Kate and Wills. It is a LONG way to go until Valentines Day, but why save romantic gestures until February?

Romance makes relationships strong and healthy...Actions speak louder than words and romance is no exception. Romance lets  you demonstrate your love-- those little gestures of caring tell your loved one that they are special.

Most men are not as romantic as women would like them to be ...  this was demonstrated  clearly in the findings of Richard Wiseman ( reported in his book "59 Seconds" ) Wiseman asked male participants to look at a list of romantic gestures and using a 10 point scale rate how romantic they thought a woman  would find each gesture. Then he asked female participants to use the same scale to indicate how romantic they thougt it would be if their partner carried out each of the romantic acts.

Results revealed men severely underestimate the romantic value of even the simplest act!! E.g. only 8% of men ( compared to 25% of women) assigned a maximum score to " tell her she is the most wonderful woman you have ever met" and only 11% of men ( compared to 22% of women) assigned a maximum score to " run her a relaxing bath after she has had a bad day at work"The same pattern emerged with the  whole list.

The study concluded that men are reluctant to carry out romantic gestures not because they care less... but because they underestimate how romantic behaviour is perceived by women!

Time for you to tell him what you think is romantic, Ladies!! and here is a list from the same study to help you ...
