I went on a busy Christmas Party Night,althought our party of 20,had pre-booked our food, we had to wait a long time before any food started to arrive. It was in a draughty marquee, and the entertainment was ok, but not what we had expected,live music(a man on a keyboard with a singer) Altogether poor. I will recommend the venue for a party night. My partner and I have eaten three times now at The Eight Bells and it is truly excellent. The staff are very pleasant. W e ordered a glass of wine at the bar and the gentleman asked us to sit down and he would bring it over - very nice service!. The food was outstanding. I would call this nice classy food bistro style. I ordered the calves liver and my partner had the sausages - both were excellent. Plates were hot and food cooked to perfection. I had the sticky toffee pudding for afters which was heavenly and my partner had a cheese board which was also excellent. We have also enjoyed the Sunday Roast here which was also very good. I have recommended to my boss that we attend the Christmas Party night this year as the food and service is so very good. The pub is within walking distance of our house too which is a great bonus due to the excellent range of wines on offer. When I was a youngster I remember the pub being owned by a couple who had an excellent menu. It was always packed out every day. When they left it never really regained that good feeling about it but I truly believe the owners now have got this pub back to the standard it should be. Try it, you really will not be disappointed!
