Making Mosaics Testimonials

I have had an interest in mosaics for many years and have seen mosaic tiled floors from Roman sites in Fishbourne, Pompei etc. and have wanted to have a go for years in making a mosaic myself. I had read a few books over the years, but with work and home commitments I never made a start. I came across Anne and Gills business last year, and booked a course for my birthday, but the day then coincided with a hospital operation, and I had to defer- Anne and Gill were very accomadating, and even though I forgot about the day, and had to re-book again, they were so kind and even though the course fee had gone up, they held to the original price.

The enthusiasm they have for their craft and their willingness to pass that knowledge on to others inspired me to go for a quite difficult first piece, which after a day was only partly finished and had to be taken away. They provided me with enough materials to finish the job, and even helped me via e-mail when I was having a few problems- the complted mosaic now hangs on the wall at home. I returned this year to work on another mosaic with them and to get advice on how to render a more 3 D effect, and happily spent the afternoon working away-they have such a range of materials to work with, it was a pleasure to grub around and select bits that would enhance my work.

I would recommend spending a day learning how to make mosaics with Ann and Gill most highly - I was made to feel really at home, and even as someone with no experience at all I was able to leave at the end of the day with a mosaic that I really felt pleased with, and all the materials I needed to finish it off at home. The friendly tuition is just at the right level to feel personal but not over-powering, and the range of materials available very inspiring. I have already been back for a half-day course, and no doubt will return again!
