Hawkesyard Estate St. Thomas's Priory Golf Club is a welcoming golf club with a challenging and unforgettable 18 hole championship golf course within a unique setting.
Set in over 200 acres of beautiful Staffordshire countryside is the historic Armitage Park estate in between Rugeley and Lichfield. In the heart of the estate lies Hawkesyard Estate St. Thomas's Priory Golf Club an 18 hole championship golf course built on sandstone playable all year around with ancient woodland and lakes built by the Dominican Monks in the 19th century.
The rolling landscape is home to many varieties of wildlife which can be found within the boundaries of the course, providing the perfect backdrop to a stunning golf course, tempting you back, again and again.
The front nine starts strongly with the long Par 3 2nd playing 183 yards down hill protected by mature trees and foliage, club selection is key when the ball rises above the trees, difficulties loom on either side. The Par 4, 8th hole is 381 yards uphill from the tee, a magnificent three tier green awaits accurate approaches with mounds on the left side and bunkers on the right. Finishing the front 9 is the Par 3 9th hole, it is a very deceptive hole which can be easily overlooked at your peril. The hole is very reminiscent of the 'Post Stamp' at Troon with bunkers lurking on both sides and swales picking up any other erratic shots.
The course shows its teeth on the back 9. Spectacular views of Ashbourne compliment the challenge proposed by the back 9 culminating with the signature Hole, 18. Hole 18 measures 412 yards, a carry of 150 yards over three pools built by the Dominican's. A good drive will leave you ideally positioned on a plateau overlooking the green surrounded by bunkers and any other wayward shots will gather in the large undulations short of the green.

In addition to the excellent golf course is the recently refurbished clubhouse which provides excellent food and drink within Bar 19 with daily specials and guest ale's on offer. All sports channels are available and a fully stocked golf desk provides for all your golfing needs. The function room upstairs is used to host larger functions with the patio overlooking the 18th green. Changing rooms are available with all the usual amenities.
The European Golf Performance Institute is on-site based within the imposing Hawkesyard Hall providing a complete holistic approach to the game of golf.
