Western Relief road to open for Rugby fun charity walk

Warwickshire County Council have decided to temporarily open a SECTION of the Western Relief Road for a charity walk next month.

The event will take place on Sunday June 13 starting from the southern part of the road, at the Lawford Road junction to the Potsford’s Dam roundabout and back again.

The five mile walk, which starts at 10am, is open to everyone to raise funds for Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) Fighting Blindness, which supports people with a form of inherited sight loss.

It will offer local Rugby people a sneak preview of part of the road, just a few weeks before it's official opening.

David Head, chief executive of RP Fighting Blindness, is encouraging people to come in fancy dress to help make the day memorable as well as fun.

The organizers are very grateful to Warwickshire County Council and contractors, Carillion, for letting them use the road and they hope lots of people come along and raise lots of money for such a worthwhile charity.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Wheelchairs and scooters are also welcome. People are also requested to make a small donation.

To register log on to www.rugbyfunrun.org.uk or call 07720 444084.
