Businesses across Rugby are being urged to support the BID for a further five years as ballot papers from the Business Improvement District arrive with them this week.

BID bosses have published a plan that includes the ongoing management of the CCTV networking, street rangers and specialist street cleaners, as well as a merger with the town centre management company, Rugby First.

Rugby First chairman Robin Richter outlined: "It would be a big blow to businesses in Rugby if the BID were to go. With our scheme, you can touch it, feel it and see it. We're all about safety, security and cleaning, and our CCTV system has helped take a lot of criminals off the streets."

He also warned: "We've kicked most of the yobs and crooks out of the town and we don't want them back, but if the BID goes, they will be."

Businesses have until the 30th June to cast their votes on the BID scheme.
