Fish Hill update scheme

Royston's Fish Hill is having an "enhancement" and on the 2nd of February 2010 there was a workshop with local business owners as guests and town council members also present.

The North Hertfordshire District council stated.

"The Royston Town Centre Strategy was adopted in June 2008. The aim of the Strategy is to provide a comprehensive framework to promote integrated development and enhancement of the Royston town centre over the next 10 to 15 years that will seek to benefit the future economic viability and vitality of the town centre while emphasising its historic character and local identity as a market town. The Action Plan that was adopted as part of the Strategy identified a number of Opportunity Sites - one of the key sites is Fish Hill Square at the northern end of Market Hill and Fish Hill."

As I spoke with other local businesses it appears that a section of businesses feel that this is going to aim alot of fund in one general area on the high street and wont assist them at all. Many have commented about the poor state of Angel pavement and how maybe this would be a better place to start an update. The new improvements have been designed to "unclutter" the area and allow a place for events etc.
