Rossendale RUFC is your local Rugby Club serving the community of Rossendale and it's surrounding areas.
Rossendale Rugby Union Football Club was founded back in 1969. Over the years the club has grown from strength to strength to become what is now an integral part of the local community. Back in its early days games were played on local farmland high on the hills above Rawtenstall as venues were nigh on impossible to find. On top of this changing facilities were non existent.
In those days the more well established clubs were reluctant to travel to Rossendale as we were almost unknown. This created problems for the Club which was desperately attempting to improve its standards.
Over the many years, times have certainly changed and Rossendale are now a very highly respected club. Today we are renowned for the way in which we play the game.
Our club is now an affiliated member of the Lancashire County and Rugby Football Unions, progressing through the divisions of the North west leagues and reaching the North Lancashire and Cumbria division.
Each Saturday we field three sides, each of which play in either a league or association fixture.
We are always on the look out for new members and welcome anyone wishing to get involved.
As well as our senior teams we also have:
Junior section,
Under 19's team
and
Ladies section.
Senior training takes place on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7pm.
Ladies training and Colts (Under 19's) training takes place on Wednesdays at 7pm and Sundays at 11am (except on matchdays).
All mini rugby up to the age of 16 takes place on Sunday mornings at 11am.
