This is a wonderful Rossendale based charitable organisation which has been established so that swim time can also be quality family time.

Rawtenstall
The Rossendale Rays was established in July 2005 and was opened to swimmers in November of the same year.
The aim of the club is to provide water based leisure activities for members with disability/multi ability using local resources.
The Rossendale Rays operates an open door philosophy welcoming members from all communities and provide resources and equipment that will maximise the potential of its members.
The Rossendale Rays now have over 50 members many who attend with their family and siblings each week. We can have between 30 -40 people in the pool within each session many whom may require assistance.

This is a wonderful charitable organisation which has been established so that swim time can also be quality family time. It can often be difficult for the whole family to attend together, Rossendale Rays has made this possible.
The club has a resident coach, Michael Simpson assisted by Jake Gill who is a welcome addition to the coaching team. Michael and Jake have a busy time ahead as an increasing number of new members require coaching support in addition to established member needs. A significant number of members gained ASA awards in 2007 thanks to their efforts. We are looking to accomodate members old and new who wish to develop their skills further at a level which reflects their individual ability.
Volunteers
We have a small dedicated band of volunteer workers, without whom the club would struggle to exist.
The importance of our volunteers is most definately the success of the club. By giving those members who require support their time and skills, the volunteer helps to make a considerable difference in their lives. It is encouraging to see that there has been an increase in the number of young people from the 'Young Volunteer' Programme this year.
We are hoping to offer volunteers the chance to participate in a number of training opportunities throughout 2008 that will enhance and develop their role as volunteers and ultimately benefit the members.
We encourage parents to get involved and go into the water with their children. Parents and Carers going into the water to support can help relieve the pressure and with available volunteer support, enjoy a swim themselves.
The Rossendale Rays is a club for you, run in the main by volunteers for your benefit and the benefit of your children or those in your care. We are always looking for individuals to devise and organise fund raising events or even get involved by taking on roles at Galas and presentation evenings. Our current challenge is to raise enough funds to add further changing facilities for people with complex needs. Being a charitable organisation, we are constantly looking for new ideas and suggestions in ways to raise much valued funds.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help run the club and help assist our members in water based activities.
At Rossendale Rays Multi Ability Swimming Club we hold weekly recreational sessions at Marl Pits every Sunday between 3:30 and 5:30 pm.
Single Membership is £15 person per year.
Family Membership is £25 per year.
Weekly Swim Fees are £1.50
We have volunteers to go in the water with members but volunteer numbers can be up or down. If numbers are down, parents will need to provide the appropriate support. Carers are requested to stay poolside in case they are required in an emergency. We have a stationary hoist and a additional portable hoist in order to provide access in and out of the pool. Steps into the pool have a handrail.
