Knitters that Natter
Associations and Socialising in Rossendale
If you are looking for a friendly and relaxed socialising group in Rossendale, Knitters that Natter is open to anyone who wants to knit, natter, or do both! We are encouraging new members to get involved and help us to make the group even more lively!
Knitters that Natter is a not for profit association in Rossendale- it aims to benefit those who are isolated by preventing them from developing depression and anxiety. The group encourages all aspects of socialising; friendship, connections, health, wellbeing and communication through activity.
Some members knit items for own use, whilst others choose to donate them to a charity that will actively benefit from them. The knitters can choose to knit anything from simple squares to make blankets to more complicated items of clothing. There are also members who don't knit but do natter; they are highly valued as they keep our group meetings upbeat and enjoyable for everyone.
Since February this year we have been working on a number of small projects in the group, including Easter Chickens for the Rossendale Lions, baby blankets and clothes for the premature baby unit at Burnley General Hospital.
Our current themes include:
Knitted Breasts- There are commercial latex model breasts available to use as teaching aids for new mums who wish to breastfeed, however they are quite expensive. Midwives and infant feeding co-ordinators have found that knitted breast models work just as well as a visual aid, as long as the shape is right!
Hats- "Help the Heroes" are currently collecting items to send to the brave service men and women in Afghanistan, so we have chosen to knit hats. You can be sure that any item you knit will be welcome, appreciated and accepted, so feel free to be as creative as you like with colours and designs.
Anyone who wishes to knit but would not like to join the group can contact Dawn to arrange collection of your knitting.
Knitters that Natter takes place every Monday morning 10.30am until 12noon, at Jubilee Court, Jubilee Road, Haslingden, Rossendale and always welcome new members.
