Clubs and Associations in Rossendale.
Rossendale 2nd Scout Group is based at the old Sunday School based in the centre of Bacup. The building was purchased and totally funded by the organisation itself. This a local base for many of our activities including our regular band practise. Here at the Scouts we get up to all sorts of fun and activities including bowling trips, swimming, ski-ing as well as all the great outdoor pursuits that you would expect from a club and association such as us! We are always happy to welcome new members and would love to hear from you. We also have our own band and are regularly involved in local competitions around the country. Our band are involved within the local community and can often be seen around the area and of course around Christmas time when we do the rounds with our carol services. Of course all of our leaders whom are of course volunteers are CRB checked for your peace of mind. As we are self funded we are always looking at new ideas for fundraising and would welcome your suggestions.
The 2nd Rossendale Scout Group is a registered charitable organisation and as such we are always looking for volunteers as well as great ideas to plough some funds back into what we think is an integral part in the local community. Trips and repairs take cash to make them happen. We are currently in the process of repairing parts of the old building, this is a long task. If you feel you could help in any way, through time, assistance or by donation then please give us a call, we would love to speak to you.

Beavers
Every Tuesday from 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Led by - Janet Hunt, Rachel Walker, Thomas Kershaw
6 - 8 year olds welcome. £1 entry.
Cubs
Every Monday from 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Cub Leaders: Julie Bannister,Thomas Kershaw
8 - 10 year olds welcome. £1 entry.
What do we get up to?
Cubs is very much like the Beavers except occasionally the Cubs do 'badges'. These involve doing practicals in order to gain a badge which can be sewn onto the Cub uniform or kept for memories later on in life.
Scouts
Every Tuesday from 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Scout Leaders: Michael Warwick, Graham Helm, Martin Holt, Thomas Kershaw
10 - 11+ welcome. £5/month
What do we get up to?
The Scout Group is a place for 11+ year olds to come and enjoy themselves. Scouts, like the Beaver's and Cub's, involves playing games but more complicated than in the Beaver's and Cub's.
The Band
The 2nd Rossendale Scout Band was formed in 1969. Originally formed as a drum and trumpet band the instrumentation was changed some 7 years later and substantial progress has been made in conventional brass band terms. The later inclusion of girls enhanced the development and presently they made up almost a third of the membership.
