Did you know, on average we blink every three seconds and those people who sit staring at a screen all day blink even less, only once every eleven seconds!

Blinking this infrequently can have some serious side effects! Dry eye syndrome usually only causes minor problems such as dry, irritable, red eyes which get worse as the day goes on. However, in serious cases dry eye syndrome can cause scaring of the cornea and even conjunctivitis causing pain, reduced vision and sensitivity to light!

David Gould now offer a Dry Eye Clinic located in Rawtenstall and Haslingden. Facilities include a tear flow assessment and mild symptoms can be prevented to reduce and stop symptoms causing problems that may occur later on.

David Gould said: "General Practitioners do not have access to the equipment needed to study the tear film in detail but it's something I do routinely many times a day with my contact lens clients, so it made sense to expand our range of services to include non-lens wearers with Dry Eyes. There is also NHS funding available for patients registered with a GP in East Lancashire, so there's usually no charge. We also stock some of the latest dry eye treatments, which are not always available via the NHS system."
