In June, Whitworth will formally recognise one of its greatest, but largely forgotten, sons.

At Whitworth Town Council’s Annual General Meeting Councillor David Barnes was re-elected by Town Council members as Mayor of Whitworth for the municipal year ahead. Councillor Barnes will be supported in his role by his wife, Councillor Lynda Barnes.

On Sunday 10 June, the Mayor and Mayoress of Whitworth, Councillor David Barnes and Councillor Lynda Barnes, will hold their Civic Sunday procession and service.
