Ross & Distict Motor Sports Club - Clubs and Associations in Ross on Wye
Ross & Distict Motor Sports Club has just celebrated its 60th anniversary. It is a vibrant, friendly, exciting and modern club. Offering a large number of fixtures over a broad spectrum of motorsport disciplines, along with a wide selection of non-competition and social events, the club has something for every enthusiast.
The large clubhouse in Kyrle Street, Ross-on-Wye, which has a large open area, and a comfortable lounge bar, acts as a venue for meetings & training, a base for many competition events, and of course regular social get-togethers. It is also home to the Dean & The Marches section of the Historic Rally Car Register.
MOTORSPORT EVENTS
Navigation Events
A team of driver and navigator with virtually any standard road car. The navigator solves series of navigational clues to ensure that he follows a defined route exactly. The events are run after dark over about 50 miles and last up to 3 hours. On Economy Runs, there is the added challenge for the driver to use as little fuel as possible by driving smoothly and carefully.
Tours
Ross host two major touring events. The Bluebell Run is a non-competitive touring assembly for pre-1986 cars which takes in the beautiful Forest of Dean and Welsh Marches. The Ross Traders is a round of the Historic Rally Car Register Clubmans' Championship involving regularity stages and special tests for classics up to 1976.
Autotests & Autosolos
Real grass-roots motorsport that tests driver skill on short, relatively low-speed courses. Autotests are run on grass or tarmac, depending on the season and test car control around a course of cones using forward and reverse gears. Competitors from 14 years can enter in the production section. Autosolos are similar, but always run on sealed surfaces, in forward gears only and have the added fun of all competitors taking a turn at marshalling the courses. Autosolo is one of the fastest growing disciplines in motorsport, and Ross hosts two regional championship rounds.
Trials
A long established test of driver skill. Drivers attempt to negotiate sections set out on off-road hillsides. The Spring Fling and Wye Valley Trials are for production cars, The Kyrle Trial is for classics, and the Pinford Sporting Trial is for specialist vehicles.
Championships
The club runs championships for members competing on its internal events, and a marshals' championship. Members can also register points for the External Championship by competing in events elsewhere. Ross members regularly compete in:

Members meet in the clubhouse bar every Thursday from 8pm. Guests are welcome, so why not go and meet them?
Awards Dinner
An annual Dinner Dance at a top local hotel with entertainment from a guest speaker from the world of motorsport, and presentation of trophies.
Other social events in the past and planned for the future include film nights, guest speakers, car shows, cider tasting, table top rallies, quizzes, BBQ's and skittles.
Members can attend monthly meetings and receive our monthly newsletter to keep them up to date with everything that is going on. Everyone is invited to join their Facebook group.
