The Lollipop person of the Year award encourages every primary school in Britain to nominate their lollipop person in a bid to win the coveted title of the best Lollipop man or lady in Britain.
Sandra wants local schools to tell her about their lollipop man or lady, so that she can put a personal nomination in at the end of the month. Sandra will then join the local winner for a morning, and see what it is like to wield a lollipop herself.
Commenting today, Sandra said:
“We have until the end of the month for school and children to nominate the best local lollipop person – and I’m willing to bet that we have some brilliant candidates locally.
“Local parents and teachers owe a lot to our lollipop men and ladies, many of whom do the job out of a sense of duty, come rain or shine.
“I want local children to tell me all about their favourite Lollipop person. How does your Lollipop person keep you safe every day at school? Why do you think they deserve this special award? They can send in drawings, poems, songs and videos telling me all about their lollipop person and the incredible job that they do.
“Get your nominations in by Thursday 29th October, and I’ll do all I can to back the winner to be crowned the best lollipop person in Britain.”
The national winner will receive a grand prize of £3,000 for their school to spend on new equipment, as well as a holiday of a lifetime for themselves.
