11th November 2014

It’s almost the season of Goodwill so we have teamed up with our Professional Solicitor friends at Molesworths in Rochdale to provide a free clinic for anyone wishing to find out more about making their Will or Power of Attorney or Inheritance Tax Issues.

The complimentary sessions will be held on 26th November (9:30-12pm) at Molesworths offices, Octagon House in Rochdale or on 3rd December (9:30-12pm) at TBD offices, St Chads Court, Rochdale.  Attendees are invited to drop-in and join Nosheen Bukhari or Joanne Ford from Molesworths and Andy Wood from TBD Associates for an informal chat about their choices and the next steps involved.

We can discuss any of the following over Cake & Coffee:

-        Wills

-        Power of Attorney

-        Inheritance Tax

-        Estate Planning

-        Trusts

-        Residential Care Planning

Most people know about Wills and their importance in making sure that their wishes are carried out after their death. The Law Society has forecasted that by 2018 the Government will collect nearly £6bn from Inheritance Tax – so it becomes increasingly important for people to consider their Wills and IHT Planning.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is, perhaps, less understood.  It is a legal document that enables someone to appoint one or more people as attorneys that can make or help make decisions on their behalf.  Having an LPA helps protect the individual should ill health or an accident leave them in a position where they are no longer able to make decisions about issues such as their finances or healthcare.  With LPAs people have the peace of mind that their affairs will be managed how they want them to be.

Lasting Power of Attorney is not just for the elderly as anyone can be affected by illness or an accident.  This is why it is important to appoint an attorney before you actually need one, as once you are incapacitated, it is no longer possible to create an LPA.  So, if it is something you are considering, it is worth putting it in place as soon as possible.  Becoming incapacitated without an LPA in place can make things more complicated for your family as they will need to apply to the Court of Protection in order to get access to the individual’s assets and finances.

Drop in for a coffee, cake and a chat with our lovely team and let’s see how we can help you.

Please contact Katie Bowmer on 07966689374 or email katie.bowmer@tbdassociates.co.uk to book your slot on either the 26th November or 3rd December.
