Syke Community Base, Rochdale, offers a wide range of opportunities for local people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in their community. The base is the meeting place for a number of local groups and with so many activities to choose from, there really is something for everyone.

Syke Community Base is a thriving hub of activity for people living in the Syke area, providing a focal point for dozens of local community groups.

The base also provides great opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in arts and crafts, health and wellbeing and local interest, as well as being a valued place to make friends and learn new skills. Syke Community Base is the meeting place for a number of organisations that affect decisions in the local area including P.A.C.T., police surgeries and Healey Ward Forum.

Syke Community Bases' mission statement is to make a difference in the lives of those in the North Rochdale area and provide invaluable access to service which improve quality of life and the local environment.

Syke Community Base is managed by North Area Partnership and just some of it's many benefits include:

  • Reduce social exclusion, isolation and racial tension
  • Improve the environment and road safety for residents
  • Easier access to services that improve employment prospects
  • Increasing opportunties to develop skills and boost confidence

Groups

Syke Community Base is home to a number of groups which fall into four different categories: Young People, Over 50's, arts and crafts and health and fitness.

Just a few of these groups include amateur boxing, pre-school playgroup, craft club, tai chi and many more. Syke Community Base also boasts a state of the art IT suite, where friendly staff are on hand to help you get started with computers and the internet. These courses range from the basics such as using a mouse and keyboard right through to searching for jobs online.

Rooms to Hire

Syke Community Bases' function rooms are also available to hire for a variety of special occasions including meetings, training courses, children's parties and group activities.

Friendly staff will take the stress out of organising your meeting or occasion and tailor the rooms to meet your requirements.
