As an emergency response organisation the British Red Cross can be there for people in crisis both here in Rochdale, the UK and overseas. The charity enables vulnerable people to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own local communities. And when the crisis is over, the British Red Cross helps people recover and move on with their lives.
The British Red Cross respond to hundreds of emergencies - such as transport accidents, floods and fires - every year and have a special role to play in supporting the emergency services. Whatever the incident, from a minor traffic accident to a mass evacuation, the British Red Cross are always ready to respond.
The charity trains thousands of first aiders, preparing them to cope with accidents and emergencies in the home, at work or out and about. British Red Cross volunteers also provide first aid cover at hundreds of events throughout the UK

There are lots of ways to donate to the British Red Cross, either online, by telephone, by post or choosing to use Gift Aid, one of the most effective means of giving to charity.
The British Red Cross helps thousands of people here in the UK and overseas and donations to the General Fund Appeal can be used to support all current work by the charity. A recent regional example of General Funds helping local emergencies was the case of the Cumbria floods, during which the British Red Cross had well-trained volunteers on hand to respond with vital equipment such as search and rescue boats and 4X4 ambulances.
