Mango & Silk:
A Truly Exceptional Restaurant

Recently awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand

When the great and the good from the worlds of media and gastronomy beat a path to the door of a local Richmond borough eatery, you know something is afoot.

Radhika Verma, delightful hostess of charming Richmond borough restaurant Mango & Silk explains: "Since opening in September 2007, head chef Udit Sarkhel has been the focus of quite a bit of attention, with visits from the Evening Standard, Time Out, BBC regional TV and others." Mr. Sarkhel has quite some provenance.

Author of 'The Calcutta Kitchen' and 'The Bombay Brasserie Cookbook', Udit Sarkhel is now working on a third culinary tome. Among his many accolades and awards, Udit has been crowned Winner of the Carlton London Restaurant Award 'Best Indian Restaurant', Winner of BIBA 'Best in Britain Award' for six years running and recipient of the coveted Gold Medal. It is a testament to Udit's passion and commitment that he also manages to run the kitchen at what Time Out calls, "this affordable, authentic and amiable restaurant" which is "doing East Sheen residents proud."

"It is a real treat to get food as good as this, (and at prices as reasonable as this)"
Evening Standard

Born and raised near the foothills of the Himalayas, Udit Sarkhel rose to become head chef at the Taj Hotel group and London's famous Bombay Brasserie, before establishing Sarkhel's, his own restaurant. After working with Waitrose as a Masterclass consultant Udit turned to art, taking time out to further develop his undoubted talents in this field. Now the master has returned to cookery and Richmond borough gourmets and curry lovers are the lucky benficieries. Or, as the Standard's Charles Campion writes, "Now he's back. Hurrah!"

"Over the past two decades, Udit Sarkhel has helped raise the standards and expectations of Indian cooking in London's restaurants."
Time Out

With subdued lighting, an upbeat approach and examples of the chef's impressive artwork gracing the walls of the restaurant, Mango and Silk offers a convivial and relaxed setting in which to enjoy some truly fantastic food. Warm, light breads with just the right amount of crispness, delectable samosas, stunning entrees and succulent seafood, spiced meat and vegetable dishes served with perfect fluffy rice; Udit's specially created menu is a feast of great regional cookery drawn from home kitchens across the sub-continent. Attentive service, charming front of house, an inspirational chef and unparalleled Indian cuisine are all the ingredients needed to make this a truly exceptional restaurant.

Private dining in the comfort of your own home or professional environment is offered and, in addition to the à la carte choices, every Sunday from midday to 3pm Mango & Silk host a "Whistle Stop Tour of India" Buffet for the entire family at an affordable price.
