If you want quality furniture at low cost prices or want to donate furniture in good condition, the charity Richmond Funiture Scheme are the people to contact.

Richmond Furniture Scheme is a small charitable organisation set up to help people in need by collecting donated furniture in good condition from the Richmond borough area and reusing it. A small charge is made to those people that are referred.

But to ensure that all donated furniture is reused, and to help make the Scheme more self-sufficient, the Scheme is open to sell furniture to all people residing in the Richmond Borough.

What sort of furniture do we need?

Furniture Scheme needs furniture in good condition including:

  • Beds (single and double)
  • Tables
  • Chairs
  • Settees
  • Armchairs
  • Wardrobes
  • Side-cabinets; etc.

Furniture Scheme cannot accept:

  • Electrical equipment
  • Soft furnishings that do not have the required fire retardant labels
  • Unclean/torn mattresses and upholstered furniture.

If you live in the borough of Richmond we would be grateful if you could let us know of any furniture you have to donate. You can either phone or email us. If there is no answer on the telephone, please leave a message with your name, contact number and details of the furniture you would like to donate. We will phone you back.

Sometimes we are unable to accept your kind donation because we have a surplus of items being offered or we are short of warehouse space.

How is the furniture collected?

We make a small charge of £5 if there are more than 3 items to collect. This helps cover our costs

A time is negotiated over the phone for our carrier to come and collect the furniture. We cannot be precise about time but can give you a morning or afternoon slot. When the carrier arrives, he must present you with a small form listing the furniture you have offered.

Any furniture listed that is not taken needs to be crossed out and your initial placed next to the crossed out item. Other items donated but not listed should be added to the list. It is important you sign the form and initial any changes as this provides us with a means of monitoring that all items donated are received by the Furniture Scheme.

You will be asked if you want to complete a gift aid form. If you are a tax payer by filling in a gift aid form means for every £1 you give us as a result of selling the furniture you donate, we can claim an additional 25p back from the government at no additional cost to you. This raises extra income which enables us to keep going.

Can furniture be delivered to the Furniture Scheme?

Should you be able to deliver the furniture yourself please negotiate a time for delivery. Telephone 020 8755 4665 and make arrangements to leave the furniture when someone is there to receive it.

Any help you give will be a kindness to people in need. Thank you.
