Richmond upon Thames Freecycle recycling service is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people, part of The Freecycle Network™ made up of 4,612 groups with 5,897,000 members across the globe, who are giving (and getting) their own household goods for free in their own towns.
Since it's inception Stateside, the Freecycle concept has since spread to over 75 countries, where there are thousands of local groups representing millions of of members -- people helping people and "changing the world one gift at a time." As a result, 300 tons a day are being kept out of landfills! This amounts to four times the height of Mt. Everest in the past year alone, when stacked in refuse trucks!
