No matter how old you are, I defy you not to get at least a little excited about the prospect of Christmas (unless you’re Scrooge, of course, and even he started to get into the festive spirit by the end!)

However, I’m sure you are already a little tired of the incessant Christmas adverts on television, instructing you to buy a £600, 42 inch HD ready flatscreen, a family-sized frozen dessert for £1 (frankly, that scares me – what must be in those things!?) or a half price kitchen/bottle of wine/trip to Disneyland Paris, which makes me wonder what sort of sickening profit they must be making when full price.

So why not get back to basics and enjoy Christmas on a much more traditional, simple level?

Located on North Road, Retford, Idle Valley Nature Reserve has a programme of festive events and crafts that are sure to help you rediscover the innocent charm of Christmas.

Winter Photography Workshop

For cameras large and small and abilities good and bad – bring your camera and have fun with ice and Christmas lights!

Taking place on 20th November from 11am until 3pm, the Winter Photography Workshop costs just £6; please call 01777 713 945 to book your place.

Christmas Craft and Dance Fayre

From 11am until 2pm on 10th December 2011, come along to Idle Valley’s Christmas Craft and Dance Fayre at the Rural Learning Centre.

For just £4 per person, you will have the opportunity to weave a willow wreath, browse through handmade crafts to find those perfect stocking fillers and try out some traditional dancing.

Christmas Decorations

Bring the kids along to Idle Valley Nature Reserve’s Rural Learning Centre to make Christmas Decorations from materials harvested from the reserve.

Booking is essential and costs £1 per person; please call 01777 713 945 to book.
