Had a great meeting with Andrew and Rachel at Lynx Black Belt Leadership Academy in Retford this morning.
Andrew Blinston of Lynx Black Belt has been training in martial arts for over 30 years and is considered to be one of the best martial arts instructors in the UK.
Not having participated in martial arts myself, I had no idea what to expect, apart from fighting, kicking, lunging, hand chops and lots of grunting!
Well, I was very surprised when I met Rachel and Andrew, the couple behind the recently opened, and fast growing, Lynx Black Belt Leadership Academy in Exchange Street, Retford.
Their martial arts training consists of much more than just the physical aspects, they also educate their students in leadership life skills. It’s a very positive environment where students gain in confidence, perseverance and motivation whilst learning the importance of attitude, teamwork, discipline, respect, personal goal setting and more.
Its great for families too as mum’s and dad’s are encouraged to participate, either actively in martial arts, or to come and watch and enjoy the progress their children and help them out of class too.
Lynx students also organise local fundraising events to raise money for local charities and give martial arts demonstrations at galas, fetes, etc.
Rachel and Andrew just love Retford (they’re more familiar with Doncaster where they have already established their successful Lynx Black Belt Leadership Academy) and have found local people friendly, helpful and supportive.
They're keen to get involved with the community in Retford, as they do in Doncaster, so we'll be seeing lots more of Andrew, Rachel and Lynx Black Belt students around town.
