An ambitious hub in the centre of Retford is set to reinvigorate the town's music scene and inspire budding musicians of all ages and abilities.
Member of popular Retford blues rock band, Tipping Point, Dominic Hollands is the founder of Hollands Music Academy, located just off Carolgate in the heart of Retford.
Next door is the Swanyard Studio, a recording studio that has also joined forces to create the music hub.
And last but not least is EES Showhire on Chancery Lane, a show hire company that provides everything the students will need to perform in public.
Dominic, who teaches guitar and drums, explained that as well as teaching the more popular instruments such as piano, woodwind and string instruments, the Retford academy will also offer tuition for more ‘unique’ instruments, such as the bouzouki. Singing lessons are also available.
The Academy’s bass tutor, Paul Mallatratt is the bass player of Tipping Point, as well as the manager of the Turbine Business Centre.
“If you are a guitarist who wants to form a band, we can ask the tutors if they have any bass players, drummers or singers they know who would be interested,” he states.
The hub is all about providing a one-stop-shop in Retford for musicians, including music tuition, writing, rehearsing, recording and showcasing talent with regular gigs and concerts.
