A stunning programme full of explosive drama and energy. Karl Jenkins' international best-selling album The Armed Man - the only choral work to feature in the top 10 of Classic FM's Hall of Fame 2004 - is preceded by Shostakovich's exhilirating and powerful Fifth Symphony. Vaughan Williams' spectacular Old Hundredth opens the concert in commemmoration of his close links with both Dorking and the Leith Hill Music Festival, which celebrates its centenary this year, and of which Reigate and Redhill Choral Society are past winners.

The soloists in The Armed Man will be Katherine Bond (soprano), Ivana Dimitrijevic (mezzo-soprano), Paul Thompson (tenor) and Jacques Imbrailo (bass). We gratefully acknowledge the support given by the Josephine Baker Trust to the appearance of Ivana and Jacques in this concert.
