Ever wondered what it would be like to fly in a glider? Well, with South London Gliding Centre in Kenley less than 20 minutes drive from Redhill and Reigate, the opportunity to find out is literally on your doorstep!
Almost anyone of any age can learn to fly a glider, as long as they pass the same set medical standards for driving a car. You begin by learning to fly a glider in one of our dual-controlled gliders with a qualified instructor, until he decides you are competent to fly solo. Once you are flying solo, you can hire one of our gliders and continue with your progress.
Trial Lessons
The easiest way to start is to take one or two trial lessons. Even if you don't want to learn to fly a glider, but merely want to experience the thrill of being in one, you can do so with a trial lesson. All trial lessons include a temporary membership to the club for 90 days.
Half day or One Day Training Courses
With 4 or 8 flights included, this promises to be a fantastic day out with the ideal introduction to gliding.
One Week Training Courses
With 20 flights over a five day period, weather permitting, you will be taught all the basics of flight control in this programme of learning how to glide.
Evening Parties and Corporate Entertainment
You can experience the joy of gliding with your friends or clients along with an evening summer picnic or barbecue.
The South London Gliding Centre at Kenley Airfield is operated by the Surrey Hills Gliding Club and is open all year round on weekdays, weather permitting.
