Police across the country are advising motorists to be extra vigilant over the Christmas period, and not make things easier for car thieves.
Carrier bags and wrapping paper, mobile phone cradles and suction marks on the windscreen are all open invitations to chancers, who in the space of seconds will have taken out a window, swiftly followed by taking out your valuables.
A friend of mine had all of her Christmas presents stolen from her car in a car park one year, after she popped back into a shopping centre to add to the list. She'd quickly shoved the mountain of bags onto her back seat, locked the car and dashed off. 15 minutes later she returned to find a window smashed and an empty back seat. The thieves don't even care what they get, it's all profit to them.
Make sure some other child in Redhill or Reigate isn't getting your children's presents this year - sharing is not compulsory.
