The Memorial Park in Ladbroke Grove is set for a complete makeover by Reigate & Bantead Borough Council. Still very much in the early stages, the public are being invited to get involved with putting forward suggestions for what they want the park to offer.
Designers are aiming to create a "sense of discovery and excitement" for visitors to the new park, and initial plans are available to show what they have in mind.
At a public meeting this week, Reigate & Bantead Borough Council and the new park's designers Chris Blandford Associates (CBA), asked for local resident's views on the potential new layout and amenities created. The seem keen to improve facilities for young people in the area, and were quick to stress that everything is still in the planning stages - they want to know what Redhill wants for itself. Funding is yet to be agreed, once the needs and wishes of locals have been taken into account and more ideas discussed.
The blueprint so far includes an improved children's play area, public square, and a stream running through the parks landscaped gardens.
Many improvements have been made and are underway in the town centre, and the general feeling of local residents seems to be to tune the park into the new and improved Redhill vibe.
There will be a public consultation period until March 26th, after which plans will be completed and funding applied for.
