Our black lab X Toby suffered a rear cruciate ligament injury in 2008 and had swum elsewhere before we found Caroline's services at CS Hydrotherapy. In the past, 30 mins sessions were very rushed and at times it felt like Toby was simply on a conveyor belt waiting to swim and then go home. The difference with Caroline was instant, and it was quickly apparent that she isn't in this business soley for the money. She quickly built a bond with Toby and the rewards were instant as he began enjoying his swimming, walking up the ramp and into the pool unaided and without the gentle persuasion we were used to giving! Caroline is interested in more than just the dog on the day, keen to be made aware of any stiffness, lameness or other problems encountered, whether they be related to initial injury or not. She progressed Toby's swimming duration steadily and according to how he behaved on the day - with a metal plate in a rear leg he was always stiff in the bitter cold weather. Equally, if he was full of beans he'd burn off an extra few minutes! Toby has since leaving Caroline's, ruptured his other rear cruciate ligament. The vets were quick to point out that any progress made will be down to the fact he swam before-hand and that now the initial injury on the first leg has, thanks to Caroline, become strong enough to compensate for the other leg. We can't thank Caroline enough for her help with Toby during his time with her, because as the vets made us clearly aware, Toby may not have had the strength in his legs to overcome his most recent injury. We cannot recommend Caroline at CS Hydrotherapy enough, and stress that we only left as we are moving house and so it is sadly too far for Toby to swim with her. We will undoubtably find somewhere else for him to attend hydrotherpy sessions, though we doubt very much that it will be at the same high standard, with the same level of care, commitment and understanding that Caroline has.
Bo is an 11 year old border collie cross & has been visiting Auntie Caroline at CS Hydrotherapy for a couple of years now to treat his arthritis.I cannot praise CS Hydrotherapy and Caroline enough. The difference between Bo having hydrotherapy treatment & not is astounding. For about 9 weeks for a number of reasons we were unable to attend his swimming. He went severely downhill. Within 2 sessions of resuming hydrotherapy he was back to his normal self & so much happier.Caroline is now part of our pack - Bo loves her & cries to get into the pool with her. She is careful, thorough & really knows her stuff. Her pool is meticulously clean, the dogs are showered before & after the swim. She is always in the pool with the dogs, monitoring their progress & ensuring that they are exercised in the most appropriate way for their ailment. She is qualified, C.H.A & NARCH approved & is always updating her knowledge and skills.Quite simply I wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommended
CS Hydrotherapy was recommended to me when Connie my Dalmatian wasn't recovering from a limp. At the initial free consultation, Caroline was able to pin-point the problem and decided a short course of treatment would help. Connie was reluctant to enter the pool at first, but with Caroline's calm and gentle persuasion she was soon enjoying her time in the pool. After only 4 sessions Connie is now back to her usual self. I would have no hesitation in recommending CS Hydrotherapy, not only for the benefits of hydrotherapy but, more importantly, for Caroline's empathy, knowledge and professionalism.
SIMPLY THE BEST! After our dog had a rta Caroline helped us all thro a very difficult time. During our first consultation she made us feel at ease and reassured us that if amputation was an option it wouldn't be a disaster. Just visiting and seeing the whole set up and her very friendly and caring approach towards our paralysed lab we were greatly relieved to know that we had a very knowledgeable and understanding professional. Her hands on approach and lovely manner with him has always been met with a wag of the tail and IN he goes! Giving great advice when having to come to the very difficult decision to amputate his leg, Caroline was right with us and made us feel we were doing the right thing for him. He is now doing fantastically well with just three legs. He loves his swims, after which he is exhausted, clean and smells gorgeous! I don't think we could have coped without her great advise and continuing care for our beautiful boy.
we have been using cs hydrotherapy for the last couple of years at first our dogs were nervous neither were water babies but caroline really took time to build their confidence and never hurried them. We have a choc lab who has bad elbow dysplacia and will be having a replacememt elbow later this year. Also a whippet cross with an heal repair. The differance it has made is amazing caroline has a real knowledge and rapport with the dogs and they enjoy it.Even after our lab has his op caroline is going to liase with the consultant vet to be able to continue his recovery with her which will be so much nicer for him.We had looked into other hydrotherapy before we found cs hydrotherapy and was surprised to find some therapists dont even get in the pool, the pools were not clean.CS Hydrotherapy is spotless the dogs are showered before and after swimming, massaged and pampered we cant praise caroline enough but why not give it a try you wont regret it and whats more your dog will love it!
Daina is a 5 year old great dane. She was diagnosed with "FIBROCARTILAGINOUS EMBOLISM" which we learnt was a mini stroke that's very rare and can happen to any breed but generally larger ones. The vet said she will get better with hydrotherapy, massage and exercise! Caroline was absolutely fabulous. She warmly welcomed us and examined Daina very gently and immediately built a rappor with her. She diagnosed Daina's condition as the 3rd vertebrae which was correct. I was extremely impressed and couldn't wait to start. Caroline explained all the rules very clearly and we were in no doubt as to our part in the process. She measured Daina all over to record the improvement in weeks to come. Caroline showered her and put a huge life jacket on her but Daina was petrified. We very gently coaxed her into the water and she splashed madly for 30 seconds and was exhausted. It took her about 5 minutes to recover but Caroline was fantastic with her talking to her all the time and massaging her leg and holding her firmly so she felt secure. Daina swam for a total of I believe 4 1/2 minutes during her 1st session for 30 seconds a time. Caroline then gave her a shampoo and shower and towel dry and wrapped Daina up in her new padded jacket to keep her warm on the way home. We continued to go for a one hour session once a week and the improvement has been absolutely phenomenal, way beyond our wildest expectations. 16 weeks later Daina has increased the size of her fore legs, shoulders, abdomen and hind legs all by 2cm each. She's walking with only a slight limp and loves running around the field as normal. We are delighted with Caroline's professionalism and care for Daina's health and welfare. Each week we begin with a discussion on how she was after the last session, how she's been in the week etc. I have recommended Caroline to several people who are equally impressed with her outstanding customer service and animal care.
Our Vet suggested hydrotherapy for Chipper, my little Cairn terrier, following double cruciate repair. Without the use of both back legs Chipper could not even sit up when I first took her to Caroline. Thanks to Carolines understanding of the difficulties and what was needed to help get Chipper back on her feet, combined with the trusting relationship she quickly established with her, Chipper eventually made a full recovery! I shall always be grateful for the help given to Chipper, and have great respect for the work Caroline does and the way in which she does it.
Have been going to Caroline for the last 3 years with my aged Bernese Mountain Dog. At 10 years old she had both hip dysplasia and arthrisis and had never been swimming before. Who said you can't teach tricks to old dogs! Within a couple of weeks my dog was in the pool and sitting on the step the second her life jacket was on.Caroline has also had to deal with the added problems of cruiate issues in both legs but has liased with my vet with progress reports and action plans to keep my now 13 year old Bernese mobile. I can highly recommend CS Hydrotheray and Caroline as a very professional service. The dog is always accompanied in the pool has a life jacket to fit and plenty of rewards on hand to help with any unease the dog may have in getting in the pool at the beginning. My dog absolutely loved going over there and would start whinning to leave the moment she saw her coat.
I was referred to CS Hydrotherapy by my vet to help with my dog's weight loss. Caroline has been absolutely marvelous and has achieved great results. She is highly professional and knowledgeable (she was able to identify a back problem which my vet had missed) and takes great care to tailor the exercise to the dog's capabilities and needs. She monitors the dog closely at all times with regard to pulse, breathing, recovery times etc. and is very patient and gentle with them. Highly recommended.
I feel like we have known Caroline forever, she feels like part of the family but in reality it is only about 6 months. Boxty, our old lab has muscle wastage in his hind quarters and was struggling to walk. Caroline has helped him become more supple and i believe added to his quality of life and in turn that of the whole family. Boxty totally trusts Caroline, and so do I, she got to know him very quickly and works at his pace.We probably don't have long with our lovely dog but as long as we have him we will see the kind, caring, patient, flexible Caroline My one regret is that we did not call her sooner, we are not insured and thought the cost would be well beyond our reach. However, for the input and the outcome the cost is both reasonable and affordable. Boxty has a full hour, some swimming, some massage, and a hot wash at the end. Caroline scrimps on nothing. I have the greatest admiration for her skills her professionalism her patience and clear speaking.Highly Reccommended. Rhon
Absolutly fantastic. My dog loves Caroline, covers her in licks before during and after his treatment.Without her help and support my dog would not be able to enjoy his life to the full. We can not recommend her highly enough.
I can thoroughly recommend Caroline who runs CSHydrotherapy for dogs. I have known her for 7 years. She has looked after several of my dogs including our Shepherd she has patience in getting their confidence, and it took 7 patient attempts to get the Tarn in the water,he was never any trouble going to see her, He had several major operations plus Epilepsy, and Caroline succeeded in getting him walking and his fitness to a very high standard. What I like about Caroline is she never leaves the dogs in the pool on their own they have their jackets on all the time, plus she is always checking their vitals signs all the time. , and I am just about to start another lab/poodle back in the pool as he has had a major op. Our Surgeon is always very pleased with their progress, and now recommends her to other dogs.
