Remember, remember - stay safe on the 5th of November

As bonfire night approaches and the temptation to buy your own fireworks rises it is important to remember that fireworks can cause serious injuries. Something as simple as a sparker can obtain temperatures of over 2000 degrees and with fireworks becoming more and more sophisticated a typical rocket can travel at speeds of up to 150 mph.

In addition fireworks can cause serious distress to both pets and the elderly and organisations such as The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are urging people to attend organised events.

Richard Fairhead, the community safety manager for The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service says "Organised community events in North Wales definitely provide the best value for money for Guy Fawkes Night entertainment and also ensure that families no longer need to risk the dangers of back garden bonfire and fireworks parties."
