Welcome to thebestof Portsmouth new blogging pages.

We are very lucky where we live, as we have great access to some of the most beautiful places here on the South Coast. We are fortunate to have the beaches nearby - when the sunshine appears.

Now the summer holidays are here, we all look for ideas on days out and places to go, so don't forget to check out the local events page on thebestof Portsmouth website www.thebestof.co.uk/portsmouth/local/events

The Spinnaker Tower offers great days out for us all, the views are amazing and on a really clear day you can see all the way to Chichester, the glass floor always proves popular especially with the children.

Southsea beaches and Hayling Island beaches although full of stones are a great place to get together with friends for long hot lazy summer days. The funfair is always popular with the youngsters, and don't forget to take a load of coins and play in the amusement arcades.

Along Southsea there is also the D Day Museum, Blue Reef Aquarium, Royal Marines Museum, crazy golf and pitch n putt too.

For those who love to shop and eat Gunwharf Quays is tHE place. I love it down here, and agin if the weather is great it's just like being away on holiday, whilst sat outside eating in one of the many restaurants. Gunwharf also hosts a Casino, Bowling and Cinema.

Whatever and wherever you choose to visit over the next few weeks - enjoy!

"I'm originally from Hull and I've settled in Portsmouth. My name by the way is KEVIN DUNBAR I am on face-book, I have family and friends on there and it's easy to keep in contact. My profile picture at the moment is the Hull City badge, although my adopted team is Pompey! I love football and I hope Portsmouth F.C. stay up and win the F.A. Cup this year, it would be a moral boost for the city overall. I have children of my own and at the moment I'm single, but I would like to settle down with maybe a Pompey girl, or a southern girl? I love the area and I think there is a lot to offer, I've had varied types of employment, although it's a bit difficult to get a decent job at the moment, things will get better, I feel since spending a big part of my life down south, I have achieved a lot in a way. 10 years M.O.D. Royal Navy and a lot of driving, the best part of living in the south is the summer, I love the south-coast in summer". report abuse...

It's nearly my Birthday again, the years are now flying by and I feel a little bit sad at the moment, I have been ill and I am still recovering, But the summer is here and the Sun was around, maybe the Sun has gone on Holiday to!! In the last year Portsmouth and Southsea has changed a lot, but that is progress and life I suppose. The Football did not go to plan but it will be the new season coming up soon and many other events over the Summer. Big Brother means it is Summer and The Festivals around, well I hope the weather picks up and you all enjoy your Holiday's... report abuse...
