I am a radio addict, I love listening to radio and appreciate what a huge effort it must be to keep a radio station going.
So I have received a press release about a local Portishead Radio Station with a difference. Radio Dynamic is a youth based radio station based at Portishead Youth Centre, which gives young people the chance to present on a live FM frequency for a week in April and a week in October.
Radio Dynamic is going on air this October between 26th and 30th October on 87.9FM between 9am and 10pm and can be picked up on any radio around the Gordano Valley, some parts of Bristol and some parts of South Wales. Radio Dynamic can also be heard online via a live streaming of the station at www.portisheadyouthclub.co.uk.
All the presenters are between the ages of 11 and 18 and have been trained in how to use all the equipment necessary to present on the radio. They have also been taught presenter skills and some are also trained as news readers for the hourly news, sports and weather bulletins.
Radio Dynamic also features a live on air singing competition between 8pm and 10pm each night called 'The D Factor' which is the station's version of ITV's 'The X Factor'. Live bands will be battling it out this year to win the chance to record a CD of their own material in the youth centre's newly refurbished recording studio.
I think this is an amazing opportunity for local teenagers to get involved in radio and maybe even kick start their career.
So here is the opportunity for local business.... Radio Dynamic relies on donations and grants to fund the licence to transmit.
