Business by the Sea - Business Forum for North Somerset

Tuesday night, 22 September saw the launch of my latest business initiative, Business by the Sea.  Born out of a lack of  opportunities for businesses to meet and mingle and learn techniques to grow their businesses, Business by the Sea is all about local business.  I attend numerous business networking events and at one of these about 6 months ago I met Nick McCloud from descartes.  Nick is a " business mechanic", his unique proposition "pops the hood" of your business and sorts it out basically. He offers a really invaluable service to local businesses and one that is designed to improve profitability (www.descartes.co.uk).  Nick and I got talking and the rest is history. So 6 months later, Business by the Sea was born!

The night was  a great sucess. We held it at Kestrel Court at Portishead which is a real hub of business within Portishead.  Along with some great local businesses we had some of the Best of Portishead join us.  Wayne Smith (Wayne Smith Professional Decorator) , Chris Harding (Mouse Proud) and Susannah Bell (Colour me Beautiful) are all members of the Best of Portishead and it was great to be able to add networking events to the Best of Portfolio.

The evening was a great opportunity for businesses to meet and mingle however on the serious side, Nick presented "7 Days to More Sales" and I discussed how to market sucessfully, strategically and cost effectively in my talk, Expose Yourself.

Lisa Clarke, the Chocolate Tart (www.thechocolatetart.co.uk), kindly sponsored the event and fed us the most amazing chocolates all evening.  Her talk on how she actually became the Chocolate Tart was fabulous.  We also enjoyed a great meal from the onsite caterers, Fresh Today (www.freshtoday.net)

So if you missed it don't worry the next one is scheduled for the 4th November.  Email me at  portishead@thebestof.co.uk for an invitation !

This inaugural event went very well, I took some good business tips home with me and made some useful new contacts. The chocolates from Lisa were scrummy too! report abuse...
