The football club has enjoyed a long and illustrious history, dating back to 1880, including cup runs against league opposition. In the 1990's, the club fell on difficult times and lost the use of "The Stadium" and has had a few different homes since. In recent years the club has settled at Tatnam and is now finding its feet once again and with it more success on the field. Off the field, gates are once again on the up and they again have the chance of a new ground on the horizon. The club has achieved Charter Standard and Community Status and offers many community benefits. They boast of having over 30 playing sides, a football in the community coaching scheme, an active mascot called Dylan the Dolphin and links with the Bay FM (102.8 FM) and iss TV the local Internet Broadcaster.

It is hoped that the club continues its success on and off the field and continues building links with the local community and commerce. To help the club rise up the football pyramid and towards the football league, support is much needed from the local community. We hope that you can take the opportunity to visit the Tatnam and experience the winning football sometime soon.

The Season (2009/10) so far

Poole Town FC has been having a mixed season both on and off the field, but mostly things are on the up and moving in the right direction. The future's bright, the future's Red & White!

The season started brightly on the field with 11 straight wins with some high scoring results. A key player at that time was Charlie Austin, who had caught the eye of Eddy Howe during the preseason victory over AFC Bournemouth. As a result Charlie was invited to train full-time with AFCB and his fitness levels improved further. Unfortunately AFCB were not able to sign Charlie due to their transfer embargo. Charlie netted 18 times in the first 11 games for the Dolphins and this was recognised by Swindon Town who invited Charlie to train with them. Charlie played and scored in the Swindon Reserves side which was enough for Swindon to make the Dolphins an offer. Charlie has subsequently broken into the first team and scored 11 goals in 13 starts and has already grabbed the attention of the top division clubs. This is all good news for the Dolphins financially, but the loss of Charlie had an impact on the form.

October and November were tough months on the field, adjusting to life without Charlie, but the form and confidence gradually returned and the Dolphins have a 100% win record in the league since 21st Nov last year.

In December the club suffered an off-the-field setback with plans for a new ground at Branksome Rec turned down by the council. Again the club has since recovered from this setback and is now looking at Plan B, Canford Park Arena.

At the beginning of the year, the club launched a new official website www.pooletownfc.co.uk which has seen a lot web traffic. The busiest day so far on the new website was the away match at Whitley Bay in the last 32 of the FA Vase. Unfortunately the Dolphins lost that game 3-1, but Whitley were the holders and bookies favourites and the team did play well. With the Wembley dream over, it was back to local action.

Since then the Dolphins have progressed to the quarterfinals of the Wessex League Cup, keeping the hopes of another Double Winning Season alive, as they strive to go back-to-back in the Wessex Premier.

The Football Association have indicated that if Canford Park Arena is a clear possibility and a ground share can be implemented, the Dolphins would be allowed to take their rightful place in the Southern League. This could mean one more season playing out of the borough of Poole for the Dolphins, but a return to what is hoped will be a Brand New Stadium at Canford Park Arena and Southern League football again for the Dolphins for the start of the 2011/2 season.

Why not visit the new website, check-out the next home fixture and take the family along to support your local team? Adults are just £6, Senior Citizens £3.50 and U16 just £1. If you have an AFCB season ticket or recent ticket stub from a home game, you can gain entry for half price.

Come on you Dolphins, win the double again!
