THE HUNT is on to find Petersfield’s unsung heroes and heroines and give them the awards they so richly deserve.
This week the Petersfield Post is The Best of Petersfield Awards – and we need your help to find the people in and around the town who are deserving of the public’s recognition.
The awards form part of the Petersfield August Festivities, which will take part in the town centre on August 28-29.
This annual event aims to highlight the many good things our town has going for it – from clubs and societies to showing the potential of The Square and surrounding streets for hosting events like this, which attract thousands of visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The awards have become an integral part of the event and they aim to recognise the efforts and commitment of members of the public and businesses put in to enhancing life for everyone in Petersfield.
We are looking for your nominations in 12 categories. Judges will then compile a shortlist and the public will pick the winners for each prize – the voting form will be published in the Post on August 18.
Post Series editor Graeme Moir said: "These awards are fantastic as they are a chance for everyone in the town and surrounding areas to look around and put forward people who are deserving of recognition for the work they put into improving our community.
"The community spirit in Petersfield is amazing and the support residents and businesses provide to events and good causes makes a real difference to people’s lives."
Philip Haines, of Petersfield Events – organisers of the August Festivities, said: "After last year’s inaugural awards we are very pleased to bring in an overall awards sponsor – The Best Of Petersfield.
We have worked with them, and our co-organisers the Petersfield Post, to bring this second year which will be celebrated at the awards presentation, together with performances by local groups during the presentations ceremony on August 29 in The Square."
