Ruth Badger (The Apprentice) helps find work for the long-term unemployed in Petersfield
Successful businesswoman and runner-up in the 2006 second series of the reality TV Show, The Apprentice, recently spent a day filming at Langrish House Hotel, near Petersfield. This was in preparation for a new BBC1 series, Inside Out, in which she aimed to make over, coach and give work experience to the long-term unemployed.
Langrish, Hampshire, 10 September, 2010: Ruth Badger, who runs a thriving business consultancy and a training academy, has taken a personal interest in helping those who are unemployed long term to return to work. She gave Petersfield residents Gary Cooper and Bryan Chandler instruction in how to prepare a CV and best conduct themselves in an interview. The show also kitted them out with new suits and haircuts before they experienced various types of work in the hotel industry, including waiting, housekeeping and gardening, which neither had encountered before.
The day turned out to be a success for all those involved.
· Gary & Bryan were barely recognisable after their makeovers and noticeably had more confidence. “I felt three feet taller, ” said Gary.
· thebestofpetersfield's Bill Oversby, who was having lunch with a client in Langrish House’s restaurant commented: “The service and food were excellent, and the waiter (Bryan) charming. He thoroughly deserves to find a job.”
· Dan Wilson, the Manager at Langrish House remarked: Ruth is lovely, and she has taken such an interest in these guys. We have all had a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting day. Bryan and Gary were excellent throughout and we could not find fault with their work. They are both very fast learners.”
