The GO Wales Graduate Training and Development Fund and placement scheme is available to SME's in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Cardigan & Teifi Valley. The aim of the fund is to subsidise the training costs of any graduate level staff that require further training and development and recruitment costs.

As a shrewd business owner, you already understand the benefits to your bottom line of having fully trained staff members. Unfortunately, as an owner of a small to medium sized business, you also know that the cost of training your staff can often be prohibitive.
How do you afford to pay for something that won't see a positive ROI for several weeks, if not months?
This is where the GO Wales Graduate Training and Development and placements Fund comes in. If your business operates within Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and/or Cardigan and Teifi Valley then you can apply for funding to help with those costs.
In order to qualify:
• You must be a small to medium sized business employing less than 250 staff
• Your business must be based in Wales
• The funding is only available for graduate staff (the participant must have a degree, HND or equivalent qualification of NQF level 4 or above)
• The training must cost a minimum of £175 including VAT
• The funding must provide a clear benefit to the business
National Qualification Framework (NQF) Courses Levels 1 to 3
GO Wales can fund training for short courses in the following categories at NQF levels 1-3:
• Business, Management & Leadership
• Environmental
• IT
• Science, Technology & Engineering
• Languages
• Equality and Diversity
Funding is provided for 50% of the costs, up to a maximum of £500.
Higher Level Courses - NQF Levels 4 and Above
For higher level courses, funding is again 50% of the costs, but up to a maximum of £1,500. Courses that have been funded to date include:

• Chartered Institute of Marketing
• PRINCE
• Project Management
• MBA

Time is Running Out
All training must be completed by 31st December 2011 and you must apply for funding before signing up for a course. Funding cannot be awarded in retrospect.

GO Wales offers you the opportunity to employ someone with a degree (or studying for a degree) to complete a project while working for your company for around 10 weeks.
Placements are primarily aimed at SMEs. Often, small businesses do not have the time or resources to develop ideas and new projects. Sometimes, they don't have the necessary specialist skills to complete a specific task. By hosting a placement, you can access the skills and benefit from the enthusiasm of a student or graduate.
By taking part in the scheme, you will receive:
A choice of high quality students and graduates People with specific knowledge and skills that can add value to your business Up to £95 per week towards the weekly wage A 6-10 week project completed A chance to see if the company can benefit permanently from graduate skills.
