The Benefit of Pilates for Sport and Sports' Injuries
Muscle and joint stability is the key for efficient muscle flexibility and durability. Pilates will aid balance (proprioception), strength, lengthening, stability and flexibility. Having a stable core reduces energy wastage, which can cause fatigue and injury. If a sports person's core stability is weak, then it is harder to improve their flexibility and durability, which will ultimately cause technique to suffer.
Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise that compliments training. Muscles become toned but not bulky, joint movement range is increased, and co-ordination and circulation is improved.
Pilates also promotes recovery from injuries and helps to prevent re-injury. It is an excellent rehabilitation method and a great tool to enhance competitive performance.
At Bamboo, not only do we do the Pilates mat exercises, we also have a large range of specialist Pilates machines that can enable the client to place their body in a position that they would not be able to go into if they were supporting themselves against gravity. This is particularly important with rehabilitation when the client's body may be weakened due to an injury.
