Helping to Raise Autism Awareness throughout the U.K.
Autism affects 1 in 100 - which is roughly 30,000 people in Wales.
Despite this, much less is known about autism than other conditions which have similar prevalence. A lack of awareness in our public services, as well as the general population, can have huge implications for a person with autism.
All too often, they will have problems getting appropriate support, and can encounter a whole number of difficulties in their school, their place of work, or their community.
Jo (Emily's Mum) says "Autism is all around us, we can help people with autism enter our world, if we encourage them to let us into theirs".
Autism should be celebrated. This is the reason for Emily's Ball.
