Following the successful launch last year of the Oswestry & District Poultry Auction, ChickenStreet and Roger Parry & Partners LLP have teamed up again to put on a second auction in February, once again at Park Hall Showground just on the outskirts of Oswestry.
Andy Cawthray of ChickenStreet said "The sale in August was a great success and received a lot of interest not only from the immediate Oswestry area but it was drawing sellers and buyers from places like Huddersfield and Oxford which goes to prove the pull of a good poultry sale. There were some excellent examples of pure breed stock at the auction along with a number of rarities all of which generated a real buzz on the day. Early Spring is a good time to start with chickens and holding this auction in February will give people a great opportunity to pick up some quality stock."
This time around space will be provided for sales stands too where suppliers will be selling all the poultry paraphernalia required to get the best from keeping chickens, one of the fastest growing lifestyle choices. It's also in plan to include the auctioning of hatching eggs at future sales for those looking to rear their own stock.
Richard Corbett of Roger Parry & Partners added "Working on this together has been great, we create a good team and learn from each other's area of expertise. Andy now fancies his chances with the auction hammer whilst I now have a flock of chickens of my own. It's evident there is a very strong interest in having a reliable and quality auction of this type in the Shropshire/Mid Wales area plus running them on a Saturday means that almost everyone can attend. We are looking to expand further with more sales throughout the year with the next one due in April to run alongside our farm machinery auction."
