THE HERITAGE OPEN DAYS PROGRAMME


Free regular minibus tours

…on Saturday and Sunday throughout the day between 10am &4pm: " Around the Town" & "Railway & Industrial Heritage". Both will start and finish from the guildhall. All entrance to event are free during Heritage Open Days.

LATE UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Oswald's Bell Tower is now from 10am to 12 (rather than 2pm)

Train running (DMU Diesel) Half hourly from Llynclys to Pen y Garreg Lane Halt
Oswestry Railway Walk

Catch the train from Llynclys Station to the new Pen y Garreg Halt and take the footpath along an old tramway to the Montgomery Canal. There are easy walks to Llanymynech Limeworks Area and to Redwith Bridge, the furthest point reached by the canal restoration.

SUNDAY, 11th SEPTEMBER

A Guided Walk Through Oswestry's Past.

The House of the Blackstar Medieval Re-enactors. Stalls, weapon displays, archery and talks.
Free entry but £1 to park.

11-4pm Llanymynech Heritage Area
Lime Kilns: Demonstration of Lime Burning at the Stable Block Education Centre. Guided tours of site and industrial archaeology: kilns, tramways, tally house and wharfage. Nature and Wildlife Trails.. Museum on the Move 'Our changing World-the Dinosaur, the Dodo and the Dormouse'.
11-4pm Canal artefacts, local crafts and canal boat trips

Light Show in the Hoffman Kiln by Freya Evans
