This is proper book shop which engages with its customers and the community. The selection of books is ecletic and owners and staff are knowledgable and engaging.And then ther's the home made cakes!
The staff are always very friendly and helpful which seems so rare these days. The shop provides inspiration and lifts your mood.
It is quite frankly the best book shop/cafe I have visited. I could have stayed there all day!
Wed May 11 2011. I can't recommend this book shop too highly. I ordered a book which was not in stock - nor in 3 other bookshops I'd phoned - and was phoned inside two days (it felt to me like an almost instant call as soon as I'd ordered) "Your book is in" were the astonishing words. Politeness. Quick looking up of title and author. Unbelievably swift ordering of the book and phoning me. Brilliant! Previously I've ordered through Amazon but this was miles ahead!!
Lovely bookshop, particularly like the personal notes displayed around the shop. Not too cluttered, books arranged for easy viewing. Love the cafe, as I can browse, have a cup of coffee and browse again!

I would recommend the Booka cafe for it's friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The food and drinks are always excellent and the service from the happy and friendly staff is simply second to none. For me, this makes the Booka cafe simply the best in Oswestry.
A wonderful fusion of a lovely coffee shop with home-made cakes, coupled with a light airy, well-stocked and child friendly bookshop. Thoroughly recommended.
As a writer myself, I love the complimentary products on offer at Booka. I always have a long wish list of items that I can give to my friends and family when they ask me what I want for Birthday or Xmas. The staff are friendly and knowledgable - the best mix for a bookshop in my opinion. A welcoming place that's great for chatting, shopping or networking. A calm oasis within the beating creative heart of Shropshire - Oswestry.
A brilliant little bookshop for anyone. My 4yr old son loves it. It's easy to get onto Amazon and get your books delivered to your door, but Booka is so much more. Friendly helpful staff, a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, whilst browsing through a great choice of adults and childrens books can't be beaten.
This shop is brilliant! I love reading so this was my dream come true and I can also eat a cake when I'm reading!
A great selection of books for all tastes and ages. Super gifts and cards are a bonus and the café makes it the perfect place to unwind with a friend or by yourself!
Really lovely book shop. Its a definate asset for Oswestry. Great book selection, enjoy the special events and really relaxing atmosphere in the coffee shop. My little boy loves the baby chinos especially when it is just marshmallow!
I love this place. Books chosen with care, displayed as they would be at home..hard back next to paperbacks, encouraging you to browse. First time I visited I left with 5 books..that is a record, even for me! Then the smell of the coffee, the music, there but not intrusive. This shop got my vote, not because the others aren't all worthy candidates, but because it gave me the best shopping experience I've ever had in Oswestry. Well done!

It is always a pleasurable experience to enter Booka. The atmosphere is welcoming and Carrie and her staff are always cheerful and helpful. I have ordered several books over recent months and nothing has been too much trouble.
I was delighted when this shop opened in Oswestry, and it has certainly lived up to our expectations. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they serve a good cup of coffee.
Booka a brilliant independent bookshop run by Carrie Morris and her enthusiastic helpers offers a really interesting selection of books that are not to be found on the shelves of supermarkets or high street chains. If you just want to relax with coffee and cake, chat with friends or watch the world go by Booka fits the bill. If that is not enough Booka regularly puts on 'author'events for all age groups and genres. Business such as this puts Oswestry back on the map.
Booka has a great look, in and out. Also they have a good selection of books and the staff are always ready to help which they do in a friendly manner. Coffee in there is lovely and the cakes are sublime! What an asset to a town like this!

I love Booka Bookshop for its delightful space, lovely coffee and truly fabtastic cakes! Unlike the eponymous high street book shop chain just down the road (mentioning no names) Booka Bookshop offers a great browsing experience...absolutely essential for a proper book shop. Nice staff, great range, beautifully merchandised, lovely cards and interesting, unique gifts. Love it!
After looking for an independent local book retailer, I was directed towards Booka Books. The reason? To manage a celebrity book signing at The Shrewsbury flower show. Carrie and the Booka team managed the event expertly and professionally. Well Done Carrie and team! Excellent job well done!
What a fabulous store in the heart of Oswestry! It is beautifully merchandised - lots of special offer tables to browse around, loaded with of course...great books. The staff in Booka are really friendly and helpful too. I was in a rush at lunchtime and didn't have time to browse for a particular book. I didn't have the ISBN number and wasn't even sure of the title! I was told: "No problem" and in a jot there it was on their computer screen and ordered with the minimum of fuss or hassle. Booka also has a lovely cafe, sells brilliant cup cakes and a range of truly lovely cards & gifts. Altogether a brilliant shopping experience!
Booka Bookshop has a very relaxing atmosphere. It has a wide variety of books and the coffee is the best I have tasted. Great combination to relax with a drink and browse a book or two! Booka is a great asset to our town! :)

I first went shortly after it opened and managed to blitz 5 Christmas presents in one visit! Fantastic range of lovely books and gifts, great little childrens area with colouring table, plus yummy cakes. I could spend hours there! Can't wait to come back soon!
